BIRTHDAY GIRL!

One of my two BEAUTIFUL sister in laws just celebrated her 26th birthday this week! Since her birthday is the day before my husbands, and they're planning to have a large celebration later this weekend we just had a small gathering with close friends and family on her special day.  I tried a new recipe for a CHOCOLATE CHERRY ALMOND cake, so yummy! For the decorations I chose to keep the cake simple &sweet for the night and everyone loved it!  I am proud to say that my very first BOW is the topper of her birthday cake! Trial and error but finally it turned out just right :]

UNDER THE SEA

In (much advance) preparation for a baby shower cake, I chose to make a practice cake to work out some ideas.  My coworker Germaine & her sister Gigi sent me a photo of one of the plates they purchased for the party.  It is adorable, an 'under the sea' theme with adorable little sea creatures all over.  I sketched out some ideas and turned them into fondant! I was VERY pleased how well they came to life on the cake, and was glad to hear that the mommy to be and her sister loved it as well! Can't wait to create the final masterpiece for them very soon!

VROOM VROOM!

One of my first cake orders came from a coworker who requested that I make an edible replica of his CAR! I gladly accepted the challenge and before I knew it i was carving away &having a really great time using my creative skills. This was a two layer, one tier delicious chocolate cake using four 8 inch squares stacked. The cake took a total of about 7 hours devoted to the carving and detail work, my favorite piece being the license plate in the back with his name! All by yours truly :]
